Treskavica Mountain is located 30 kilometers from Sarajevo and offers unique opportunities for hiking, mountain biking and alpinism, with height of 2,088 meters above the sea level.
The mountain lakes, as well as the stark contrasts between lush vegetation and complete nakedness, make Treskavica one of the most beautiful mountains in the region.
Treskavica is a mountain that offers one of the most beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. It offers an unforgettable view of the nearby mountains Jahorina, Trebević, Bjelašnica and Igman. There are also mountains Obalj, Visočica, Crvanj, Zelengora, Maglić, Volujak, and in the distance, you can see Velež, Prenj, Čvrsnica and Vranica.
The climate in Treskavica is a real mountain, with the southern, Mediterranean, and northern currents coming from the continent colliding above. All this causes frequent changes of weather so that four seasons can be experienced in one day on Treskavica.
No Bosnian mountain shows such sharp and characteristic differences between the lush green vegetation (on the north side) and the karst wildlife and the goleta (on the southern slopes) as Treskavica does. It is known for its endemic species, the Bosnian lily, and once herds of chamois were an inevitable sight on Treskavica, while today there are fewer of them.
For all those who want to visit this beauty, the most convenient access to it is from the village Turovi, four kilometers away from Trnovo. The road from the village is marked and it is safest to follow the trail that leads to the mountain hut and the camp Sustavac. The road from Sustavac leads to the Great Lake next to the former mountain hut Josip Sigmund on Kozja Luka, and slowly becomes more complex and narrower.
